Goshen’s premier arts event is back — with a 2020 twist.

Due to COVID-19-related health and safety concerns, the annual Arts on the Millrace will be a virtual event this year. From Friday, August 28 through Sunday, September 6, people will have the opportunity to purchase work by local artists online at artsonthemillrace.org.

Artwork can be viewed on the website or on the event’s Facebook page.

“The seventh-annual Arts on the Millrace is basically a big online art sale,” said Adrienne Nesbitt, the festival’s director and co-founder. “It’s also something that’s needed now more than ever. This year has been so hard for all of us, but artists have lost nearly all their opportunities to sell their work at arts festivals and other events. It’s important for our art-loving community to support them.”

Arts on the Millrace is a juried exhibit, and there will once again be a Best in Show award. There will also be a People’s Choice Award given. On Saturday, August 29, arts enthusiasts can vote for their favorite artwork on the event’s Facebook page – a “Like” equals a vote. Note: Only one vote per voter is permitted. The winner will be announced on Sunday, August 30.

For those wishing to avoid shipping and handling fees on their Arts on the Millrace purchases, a local “pick-up day” is set for Saturday, September 12.
